STILL / MOTION · THE FIELD NOTES

Create a short product clip from a still photo

A product photo can be a starting point for a short video with gentle lighting or background movement. Keep the product shape and label visible, then inspect the output for changes.

01

Start with a clean product photo

Use a sharp image with a simple background and clear separation between the product and surrounding objects. Leave margins so the frame can accommodate subtle movement without cutting off the product.

Choose the frame that matches the intended composition. Landscape suits a wider tabletop scene, while portrait can suit a tall bottle or a vertical social post.

02

Ask for a restrained shot

Example: “A glass perfume bottle rests on a stone surface. Light moves slowly across the glass. The bottle stays still, the label faces the camera, close-up shot, stable framing.”

For a fabric product, try a small breeze in the background instead of asking the entire item to spin. A complex rotation requires the model to invent unseen sides and may change the object.

03

Check commercial details

Inspect the logo, label, product proportions, color and reflective surfaces. Text and branding can change in generated frames; a reference image does not guarantee an accurate advertisement.

Use photos and brands you are authorized to use. Review the video before publishing it, and do not treat an experimental clip as evidence of product features. A five-second test costs $0.05 at the listed rate.
